Napa and Sonoma are gorgeous destinations with near perfect weather, and they are home to hundreds of unique wineries to thrill every palate, from novice to collector. But choosing which wineries to visit can be tricky and that’s where this book comes in! This epub version has all the photos in color. Ralph & Lahni DeAmicis are local guides who have been touring with clients since 2005 and producing the region’s most popular wine tour books since 2007. The key to their success is staying on the road so they can keep the books current and updated. They’ve learned that the secret to truly enjoying these remarkable wineries is knowing where to go, and what to expect when you get there. The first part of this book covers what every visitor needs to know about enjoying Wine Country. Then it answers the essential questions; how to get there, where to stay, how to dress, what to expect in a tasting, how to taste wine like a pro and more!Following that are the winery directories, containing what you need to know to decide about where to go. They include Ralph and Lahni’s personal insights from their previous visits with clients because that is their main barometer: What was the guest’s experience like? The winery listings connect to easy-to-read tour maps at the back of the book that will help you navigate these narrow country roads. GPS can be undependable in these canyons and hillsides where so many wineries reside! This book will help you plan your trip and serve as a handy guide while you tour the region. This book was created for the ‘planners’, those people who want to know about a place before they get there! That’s a good idea! First, grapes are regional, so where you stay may depend on the wines you like (Chapter 9). Second, wineries require appointments, often far in advance, so if you have favorites you want to visit, call early (Chapter 4). Third, knowing what to expect at the wineries (Chapter 5), and the secrets for tasting wine like a pro helps you get more from the experience (Chapter 6). This book will answer most of what you need to know to travel this area comfortably, confidently and safely (Chapter 3).Dream Tours combines two of our other books, ‘A Tour Guide’s Napa Valley’, and ‘A Tour Guide’s Sonoma Wine Country’. We sell those locally because those outlets prefer books focused on their county, without any mention of that place over the hills. For you, there are advantages to having the inside story on both places since the downtowns are just twenty minutes apart. About the Book Design: The first six chapters share helpful information about Wine Country. The following seven chapters are based on the questions we have most often heard from clients. The next six chapters are about exploring Napa. The next six chapters are about exploring Sonoma. About the Winery Directories: Fair warning, it is neither comprehensive nor guaranteed accurate, because wineries are notoriously bad at informing tour book authors about their many changes. Check their websites before you visit because most wineries require appointments. The listings are keyed to the maps, A to R, at the back of the book. About the Thirty-Two Maps: We make them as accurate and readable as possible, but they an overview of Napa's location and its grape growing areas. While GPS works well, wineries typically post directions on their websites, or they send them with the appointment confirmation, so depend on those. On AmicisTours.com there are videos and full TV episodes of Wine Country at Work that you might find illuminating.Have fun navigating Napa and Sonoma. We hope that our book leads you to delightful experiences and diversions. Read more
